Introduced by Tiffany & Co. in 1886, the Tiffany setting refers to a six-prong tapered round setting with long slender prongs that hold a solitaire stone, most typically a diamond. The design allows for more light to pass through the stone, enhancing its brilliance. Four-prong settings are sometimes referred to as Tiffany settings also.
